Sustainable Business Practice Acceptability Guidelines
| --- | Submissions of Sustainable Business Practices accepted on this site are those that have already been implemented by companies or institutions; and those which are accompanied by information on the challenges and successes of implementation. |
Remember that the aim of ethipedia.net is to provide a library of transferable strategies that help establish sustainable development practices within an organization. The purpose of the site is primarily to inform sustainability practitioners, not to promote an organization.
What are the elements of an acceptable submission?
They must follow a sustainable development approach, that is to say that they must have social and environmental benefits (see Criteria for definitions), but also be economically profitable; the implementation of these practices must be associated with visible or even measurable results for the organization or the environment/the community more generally; and the shared practices must be reproducible by other organizations.
ALL SUBMISSIONS WILL BE REVISED, and only acceptable submissions are published on the site. Publication of eligible submission is generally within a few working days of the date of submission.
The following are characteristics of a good submission:
Practical and concrete (in other words, not a vague mission statement);
Describing a concept or project that has already been carried out (not merely an idea);
Includes challenges and successes of implementation;
Is instructive (not simply promotional).
The following submissions would likely not be accepted for publication:
General business profiles
Mission statements that are not accompanied by concrete achievements.
The adoption of generally accepted norms (ISO), or adherence to local regulations.
Submissions deemed to be too vague, without a clear underlying theme.
Theoretical practices or practices that are not associated with any organization.
